I think that a person who lives in solitude becomes so preoccupied with death, because they are waiting to die. They have nothing more to look forward to in life, so they wait for death.

In Emily's case she already had an illness, so I guess she wrote about death because she saw it coming. When some people get sick they only talk about the inevitable, death. And seeing how she never left the house that only made her think of it more.

i think a person living in solitude becomes preoccupied with death because they don't think there is anything to live for since they haven't experienced anything. they been locked up soooo long that they don't even know wat living really is or what it means. isolating yourself will make u sick and sick people can sometimes become suicidal. thinking about death just like emily dickenson!!!!!!

I think a person who lives in solitude becomes so preoccupied with death because they've been in isolation for so long that the only other option than life to them is death. I think that takes their minds mentally to a different state of mind where they "LIVE TO DIE."

In this case, she wasn't physically dead but she was so secluded away from society that she had nothing else to do but talk about things that related to her lonliness. People like her are socially 'dead to the world' because they are so introvert, shy, or 'quietly rebellious' against society and the world in general, that they don't make a big enough impact on others to make a difference so they physically exists, but that's it.
They feel as though they don't have the power to turn things around so death is their only option.

I believe that a person who lives in solitude becomes preoccupied with death for many reasons. Though in Emily Dickinson's case I believed she felt that her only escape was to die. Being a recluse meant that she didn't leave the house. Her mental illness made it impossible for her to leave the house. In death (as far as I know) there is no fear or feeling of being limited. She may have felt that her spirit could leave the house and be free to roam the Earth though her illness kept her body from doing so. Death was Emily's only escape from herself.

Emily Dickinson was forced to think about death. It was the only thing she could be guaranteed. In her biography it says that she went to college, but her illness kept her from having a job outside of the house. Therefore, she was ultimately let down by her on emotions. She wasted her time and mind when she couldn't fulfill her dreams or goals. Dickinson may have felt like her body was unpredictable and could shock and ruin her dreams once again. That could have cause her to depend on herself and the peace that she would aquire in death. Being alone leaves time for you to measure your life and what you and others think it's worth.

A person who lives in solitude might become so preoccupied with death because that may be the only thing they have to look forward to. Because they are alone, there is no one for them to enjoy life with. Since Emily Dickinson became ill and never had the joy of actually interacting withh the outside world, she only had death to look forward to because she had not experienced that yet.

I think that a person that lives in solitude may become so occupied with death because maybe they already feel dead. If there's no one around for them to share their life with they may feel there's nothing to live for but death.

I think a person who lives in solitude becomes so preoocupied with death because they have no one around to keep them happy and love to live life.If you have that special person that makes life worth while you wouldnt even think about death. Since you are all alone and have no one to live life with you think about death more than anything and you become dead.

I think a person who lives in solitude becomes so preoccupied with death because they feel alone and feel like they don't have a purpose in this world. So they probably feel like death is all they have to really think about.

The reason why I think Emily was so preoccupied with death even though she was living in solitude is because she was waiting for death to come to her.

I think a person who live in solitude becomes so preoccupied with death because they are always alone. When a person is alone he or she can go through a moment of depression. Usually when people are depressed they often think of death or surround their life with dark thing. If a person has no one or nothing around them there is really no need for positive emotions such as happiness and love. Therefore will result to the only feelings present.

I didn't read that but my personnal opinion is because when you are by yourself you have a lot of time to think to yourself. Thoughts of death often cross the minds of people living because it is a highly misunderstood subject. The reality that you will be no more questions your beliefs and your rational. But the prospect of a second lifenever crosses most peoples thoughts. So when people like that are all alone and think of death, they think of why are they alive just to die alone.

I think a person who lives in solitude becomes so preoccupied with death because they have so much time on their time and start thinking of a lot of off the wall type stuff.

I think a person living in solitude would be so preoccuied with death because they are lonely are afraid of dying that way. I also think they have nothing better to do with their time. If you live the way Dickinson did you will never experience the adventures of life and all the differnt people the world has to offer.

I think that a person who lives in solitude becomes so preoccupied with death because they know that there time is up. They are kind of scared but just knows deep down in their gut that it's right around the corner.
